Has anyone worked at Mercy General in Sacramento, Ca.? Need some info and where is a good area to live in Sacramento? Please need this info asap...Thanks.

I live near Mercy General. It has a good reputation for cardiac. I've never been to that particular Mercy hospital, though.

As for nice areas to live--totally depends on what you're looking for. Suburbs or Sacramento proper? Apartment or house?

Thanks for the reply, Since I have never been to that part of Calif. I was just wondering about the safe area to live in. No kids just my spouse and myself, We would rent either a house or a nice apt. Something not to far from the hosp. Any help you could give would be appreciated. Sounds like Mercy is a respected hosp. I have applied on line. Again thank you. Any areas there to stay away from? Thanks again.

Mercy is actually in a great part of Sacramento, known as Midtown (or near it--I'm not sure where the exact boundaries are, but if it's not Midtown, it's really close). Many of the places for rent are in beautiful old houses, which have been split into large and small apartments.

Some parts of the Oak Park neighborhood are known as "bad"; Lemon Hill, too; and Alkali Flat. But then, Oak Park is really nice on some blocks... you have to get a sense of it when you're there. Land Park and Curtis Park are nice, but more expensive. I would start the search in Midtown.

Specializes in Acute care obstetrics.

I worked at MGH for almost 8 years--it's a great place to work, but quite busy. Like any other hospital, there are very busy days, and there are the occasional days with only a few patients-(we don't use the Q word in OB). The neighborhood surrounding the hospital is beautiful, mostly Victorian style homes with a very large park which provides a great jogging environment, something you see alot of their. Downtown Sacramento is close, where the State Capitol, Old Sac, the riverfront, and Raley Field make interesting things to do. I hope this helps a little.
