Mercy College vs. MUO

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

I was accepted to Mercy about a month ago but found out I was also accepted to MUO today. I was NOT expecting that. And I was sitting fine with Mercy.

I really don't know anyone that goes to either school...so I don't know who to ask to compare. I know that MUO is "harder" to get into but I think that is because more people apply. It has a consortium with Bowling Green State University and Toledo University...so they got a LOT of applicants.

I know harder doesn't necessarily mean better.

Does ANYONE have experience with either school? Fall '08 will start my third year.

Specializes in Stepdown progressive care.

I went to MCO before they changed the name and the thing you have to remember is that once your 2 years of prereq's are done, you then apply to the nursing program at MUO. This means there's a chance you won't get accepted meaning you'd have to wait another whole year in order to reapply since they only accept students once a year. There are more students usually then they have seats for. I know my friend didn't get in her first time applying so she had to take filler classes til she was eligible to apply again.

Now I think I got a really good education there as did another one of my friends who went there. Passed boards on the first try etc. I think the real learning though occurs out on the floor when you're a new nurse.

Good luck.
