My name is Melinda. I was accepted into the ABSN program in Des Moines' Mercy College of Health Sciences back in 2023 but have delayed my start due to being a travel phlebotomist and finishing out my contracts. Deciding to apply to nursing school was kind of a last-minute thought and I honestly didn't think I'd get in. I already had a traditional 4-year degree. Sad to think that my cheap phlebotomy certification pays 3x as much as any job in Biology I've ever had--which is why I don't use my bio degree. Anyway, I have finally set my start date--Fall 2025. Is anyone else doing the program this year? If so, or if you're already going through the program, please add me on Instagram @eudaimelnia
Also, if you're going through the program and have some insight, please share!
Congrats on getting accepted and setting your start date—that's exciting after balancing work and contracts. Your phlebotomy experience will definitely help in nursing school, and I hope you find others starting Fall 2025 to connect with.
