Mercy College ABSN Spring 22'

Published

Hi! ? I haven't seen a thread for the Mercy College Spring 2022 cohort so I decided to start one. I have been accepted elsewhere but Mercy was my top option and really want to go there. Hope to meet others in this journey ?

Hey

If you don't mind, can you share about the Clinical sites location. I am applying for this fall 2022 but when I ask them about the locations, they said they don't know about it. When I read the handbook, I found out we might have to travel upto 75 miles for clinical. I live in Queens, NYC and no personal means of transportation and heavily rely on public transportation so would really really would like to know where the clinicals are in five boroughs and in westchester? Please

Also anyone who is willing to share any other experience with this program, please feel free to share. Would really appreciate it.

Hey! I’m currently in the accelerated program at mercy. I’m finishing up my 4th semester and I’m due to graduate in December. Clinical sites are anywhere within the 5 boroughs and westchester county. Honestly, I’ve loved the program so far! Only thing that’s annoying is that they can change your clinical site at the last minute (it happened to me twice). I think starting in the fall is a good choice because the first semester is HEFTY! I started in the Summer and was basically taking 7 classes in 10 weeks. Some professors are awesome and some aren’t but that’s usually how it goes with nursing programs! Other than that, everything has been great. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

For the application process, how did you submit the reference letter? Is it required to upload manually or will Mercy send out a automatic email to whomever email listed?

*Also any tips for the 500 word essay?

From what I remember, you add the email of the person who will write the letter and they just follow the link and follow the steps/instructions. As far as the essay goes, I honestly think the best thing to write about are your own experiences as to WHY you want to be a nurse. Think about that really hard. What makes you a good candidate? Why should they accept you versus someone else? Try to make it personal and don’t sound so cliché (for example saying something like “I want to be a nurse because I like helping people”). I based mine off of something personal and how I turned something negative into something positive and how that specifically affected my decision to be want to be a nurse. Just try to introduce yourself through paper and make it interesting. I hope this was helpful and good luck!!

Did anyone apply to the Spring ABSN 2023 cycle?
I’m curious what your overall cumulative GPA and science GPA is.

I have a letter from a professor who teaches at Columbia and mentioned my volunteer and physical therapy hours.
I have proof along with CPR. IDK what else. I hear the program is hard to get into . I graduated undergraduate from mercy

Also,

I heard that we have to give med math exam on our first semester. I was wondering what are the topics that will be in med math. Are those similar to the one's in pharm lab?

Am I able to play around with my schedule as long as I get the specific courses done that are required?
I was warned by my advisor about what you stated. He said I hope you know your starting in the Spring. Then he asked if I wanted to apply for fall. I was thinking of waiting on nursing 200 until fall.

Does anyone know what your first semester class schedule looked like? How many days a week?

What entrance exam is required for their program?
