Mercer-GA Baptist Fall 2020

Published

Hi everyone, just wanted to start a new thread for the upcoming Fall 2020 cohort. I am applying next month and wanted to know if anyone else has been accepted and see you guys's stats. I wish everyone the best!

My current transfer and science GPA is a 3.0

My overall GPA is what I'm mainly nervous about which is a 2.6 ?

For those accepted, how long did it take to hear back? I submitted my application 3/27 & the status still just says submitted.

I submitted my application on March 11th and heard back on the 26th

CONGRATS on your acceptance! I’m thinking about taking it over the Summer at Mercer but I’m not sure if I want to take it in a 8 week session, so I’m probably taking it in fall! They dropped a class, so it will only be 16 credits.

I heard back within 3 weeks.

That’s true. The only reason why I’m rethinking the Summer class is because it will already be included in our tuition if we decide to take it during the Fall.

Hello everyone. I got accepted to the program early March and I paid my deposit already. I'm sure most of you have already heard that pathophysiology was going to be a new required prerequisites, however they said we can take it as a co-req in the Fall. I was thinking about taking the class during the Summer with Portage/Geneva College, but if I take it during the Fall as a co-req it wouldn't make a difference in price because its already part of our tuition, so in other words I wouldn't have to pay extra to take it over the Summer. I'm not sure if that makes sense but let me know if you need clarification. What are you guys planning on doing regarding the patho class?

Hi! I'm currently in my first year at Mercer and I HIGHLY recommend taking patho over the Summer. In my opinion if you have the background knowledge of the diseases it would be soooo much easier to apply the pharm aspect once you take pharm in the fall. We had patho and pharm combined and it was a struggle to first learn about the disease process and then having to apply the drugs for each disease while learning the actions/side effects/things like that. I just feel like it would really bring everything full circle for you if you already had the knowledge about the diseases. But the professor for that class is amazing. she goes above and beyond to make sure you understand things, as long as you put in the work too!

Hi! Can you tell us more about your first year experience? Like what was your schedule like first & second semester? How long are your days? Do you think it’s possible to work your first year?

The first year will fly by trust me! It will be super overwhelming at first but once you find your groove its not that bad!! The first semester you will be in class 3 days a week for most of the day. Then one day a week you will have lab/clinical that is only 6 hours. Second semester, you have class two days a week all day. Then you have a 9 hour medsurg clinical and for 6 weeks you also have a mental health clinical. I know people worked, but I did not. I would try to limit the hours at least until you get used to the schedule and constant workload. Honestly I don't know how people did it second semester while you are in both clinicals, but I definitely think its do-able when you are done with mental health because you have 2 days off every week.

Hey everyone! I am also at Mercer and we are finishing up with finals next week. I agree with Amanda895, I would want to get everything I could out of the way before school starts. The professor is truly amazing, and you work hard, she will help you through it! My tips for you are: stay on top of assignments, you do not want to have to play catch up, stay organized, enjoy your time with your family now bc you are about to be busy. The year goes by very fast, so enjoy it. Find you a good group to be study buddies with. It takes a team to get through this!

I got accepted for the fall! Super excited but also really anxious. I have a couple of pre-requisites left to compete. My overall GPA was lower than 3.0 due to a previous degree but my transfer and science GPA were solid. I also have 1 year lab experience, 1 year health department experience in the communicable disease dept as an educator/counselor , and 2 years as a medical assistant. CONGRATS to everyone that made it in, and good luck to everyone who is still waiting on an answer!

CONGRATS! You just found out today?
