MEPS over 40 physical

I am over 40 and have read on a previous blog there are certain requirements for the physical. My recruiter instructed me to bring a copy of my most recent mammogram and pap smear. I have an EKG from May and she told me it would be repeated at MEPS. She also said I didn't need an ocular pressure exam, they would also do that at MEPS. Does this sound right? Want to know if there is anything I need to bring copies of, I don' want the process to take any longer than it has too and if I can avoid going back I would like to. Any advice is appreciated.

Bring copies of whatever you have even the EKG. You never know what might show up during the physical and it would be easier to already have the documentation for review by the medical officer.

The recruiter has it about right for the physical. If the PAP smear is greater then 1 year old it might have to be repeated. Not sure about the time frame for the mammogram.

Does everyone have to have copies of their pap smears, etc??? or only if you have something abnormal.

If you are over 40 whether normal or not you must have a copy of a recent mammography and papsmear. Also EKG and occular pressure exam as well as a rectal smear which they apparently do at MEPS. THE JOY OF BEING AN OLDER APPLICANT!

Thankyou. Best to be prepared. The process is long enough, don't want any further delays. I have copies of all my things so I will make sure to bring them.

When I went, I was not told that I needed my mammo and pap results. I had them, but at a file at home. I left MEPS without my stamp of approval. GRRR.... I got with my recruiter immediately as I left. I got home and faxed the 2 over to the Sgt at MEPs within an hour of leaving. But I didn't get my approval for 3 more weeks! So take anything you may even think you need with you! (and bring a book). I enjoyed MEPs. I chatted with all the young fresh excited kids. And I didn't get special treatment for my rank or age. They wrote on my name badge a big over 40! lol.

The recruiters may not be as attuned to the over 40 crowd since they themselves are much younger. I have a binder with all my medical stuff and I plan on bringing it just in case.

The tag with over 40 is pretty funny. I was hoping they would never know looking at me, but guess I'll be wearing it as a scarlet letter. I read in another blog that one of the over 40's was mistaken for a recruit's mother, hilarious! Age says so little about you other than how long you lived, not who you are, not what you have done and definitely what you can do. I hope you are judged on you as a person and not the number.
