Hi all,
I've been accepted to both MEPN programs, Hopkins and Marquette. I feel that both are great schools and great programs, though JHU has the name recognition. Does that recognition push it over the edge?
I would love to hear experiences from either program. I want to get as much info as I can in terms of quality of education, what you are prepared for at the end of the program, etc.
Both programs grant and MSN upon completion and RN licensure. I would pursue either a post-grad cert or DNP after working as an RN. There is quite the price difference between the two so I'm curious as to what to expect from either and where to put my money.

Honestly, since (if I'm understanding your post correctly) these are both pre-licensure programs... Masters Entry Program for Nursing ... the 'name recognition' won't make any difference. Everyone has to pass the same NCLEX. A direct entry "masters" does not confer any advanced clinical skills & that's the focus of entry-level jobs for new grads. so you'll be competing with all other new grads for the very same entry-level positions. The most important consideration? Their NCLEX pass rates.
HouTx thanks for the reply. That all makes sense, since I would be starting on a level playing field. I believe they are pre-licensure programs, but just give some more opportunity to "roll" into a post-masters certificate or DNP program after meeting working prerequisites as an RN.
JHU has ~1000 clinical hours and I am waiting to hear back on their pass rate, admissions said they thought it was >90%
MU has 1020 hours and a 93% pass rate, down from 97% last year after the test was changed.
Both seem to be excellent programs as far as I can tell?
