I have a question if anyone can help. As a lpn you are caring for an 85 year-old male with senility and cardiovascular problems. He has a history of violence and alcohol abuse. He has exposed himself to 2 aides, and pulled a nurse into the bed with him. This AM during his shower he took a swing at the aide giving him a shower. You have documented the incident, what actions can you do next and why?

What type of facility - LTC, hospital, ect?
Two suggestions:
1- Call his physician, make them aware of the pt's actions, ask for suggestions, medication or some intervention.
2- Always have 2 staff members present when providing care for this fellow.
As for the why, Dr needs to be aware of the violent act and 2 people serve as witness and protection.
Hope this helps.
