Meeting Dean of Choice Nursing School- what to say?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

So I have been given a great opportunity to meet the dean of my choice nursing school (to which I've already applied and am waiting to hear back) who will be visiting my current university and speaking during a Nursing Club meeting. Afterward, I plan on introducing myself. If it were you, what would you say to make a good impression?

I would say things like:

1. Thank you for coming to speak to our club

2. I hope to be meeting you again as I have recently applied to your school

I would not ask her for any "inside information" on the application or selection process or for any special favors/recognition as you meet her 1:1. Making her feel uncomfortable won't help your cause and may actually hurt it. Wear a name tag and introduce yourself in a clear, confident voice. Express enthusiasm and genuine interest in her school, but don't act as if you expect any sort of special consideration. That might make her feel uncomfortable. (I know it makes me feel uncomfortable when people do that to me. I run a popular extern program that only accepts 1 out of every 10-12 applicants.)

However, if there is a general question & answer period, you could ask for general suggestions on improving your chances of being accepted ... what to do if you don't get accepted the first time you apply ... etc.

Good luck!
