  1. Yes, I understand what you mean about benefiting from a face to face conversation. I will definitely look into some nearby places to see if they have nurses working there. Thanks to both of you, very helpful! :)
  2. Thanks Cathylady, I will definitely look into scholarships. Good luck to both of you two! I really hope you guys make it in to VCU or whereever you choose to go! :)
  3. Thanks you guys!! :) I had a 4.0 GPA when applying, for pre-reqs and overall (although I still need to finish up 2 classes, one being A&P) at Virginia Tech. I'm currently a freshman Bio major by the way. My SAT was 1330 and my ACT was 29 (I submitted both). I had a little volunteer experience at the hospital... hmm can't really think of what else. I'll try to PM my email if I can figure it out haha! Crossing my fingers for you!
  4. I got my letter and... ACCEPTED!!! :) So relieved. By the way, the Dean of the School of Nursing said there are about 60 spots for Traditional BSN when she came to speak at my school.
  5. Aww, I'm sorry ameliagal. I go to school 3 hours away, and my letter is going to my home address, so I have to wait until my dad gets home from work to check! I will post as soon as I find out though.
  6. I didn't get anything either and I'm also in Richmond... hoping for tomorrow. The wait until the mail comes is so nerve wracking!
  7. At my college I have to interview someone with the career that I hope to have in the future. Unfortunately, I don't know any Registered Nurses! It would be greatly appreciated and a huge help if someone would be willing share a little bit about their experiences and help out a hopefully future nurse. :) In order to make sure that I'm not just making up answers, my professor is requiring that we include the first and last name of the person that we are interviewing, as well as a form of contact information (email address if fine). If you feel uncomfortable posting this here, please feel free to private message me. Here are my questions: 1. What is your educational background? 2. What was your undergraduate major? 3. Do you feel that your undergraduate education helped prepare you for your profession? 4. What extracurricular activities were you involved in as an undergraduate? How important do you think they were? 5. Looking back at your undergraduate career, is there anything you wish you had done differently? If so, what? 6. What do you like most about your current position? 7. What do you like least about your current position? 8. What is a typical work week like for you? 9. Is your career, at this point, what you thought it would be? 10. What do you feel are the most important qualities for a person in your position? More than one person can answer! The more information the better. Thank you so much in advance to anyone willing to help! Please let me know if you have any questions :) Alex
  8. I've heard that offices at VCU are still open, but I'm not sure. Hoping to hear tomorrow! :)
  9. I haven't heard anything either. I'm hoping to hear early next week, maybe Monday or Tuesday, but we'll see.
  10. Yeah I have not heard anything either. I will post good or bad news haha! Hopefully good.
  11. So I have been given a great opportunity to meet the dean of my choice nursing school (to which I've already applied and am waiting to hear back) who will be visiting my current university and speaking during a Nursing Club meeting. Afterward, I plan on introducing myself. If it were you, what would you say to make a good impression?
  12. Wow, that's great! Yes, the building is very nice and whenever I call the SON, the advisors are always so helpful. I should be hearing back mid-March, but I'm hoping maybe I'll hear back a little earlier. I'm so excited to hear back!
  13. Yes, I am presently a freshman at Virginia Tech. I have heard that it is very competitive and really hope I am able to get in this year! Did your daughter apply early decision or regular?
  14. I actually only applied to VCU. I considered UVA but in the end decided that it would be a lot less convenient location-wise. I will most likely not be working during school unless it is a relatively low stress, several days a week job. The wait is killing me! I need to know already! I will post here when I find out; hopefully some others do as well. :)
  15. Hi everyone! I applied to the VCU Traditional BSN Program for Fall 2011 and was wondering if anyone else here applied. I got my email about a week ago stating my application was complete, so now I'm just nervously waiting until March! Anyone else hoping to attend VCU's Traditional BSN program in the fall?
