Specializes in Telemetry.

The NCLEX book will be of great help. Go get some! You will not regret this.

Specializes in DOU.

Read the boxes in the text book, and if there are questions to answer at the end of your chapters, do them.

Specializes in New Graduate Nurse.

What helped me out in Med/Surg was to break everything down by the nursing process. You now...Assess, Diagnose, Plan, Implement...etc..etc. I found that a lot of test questions are written around this framework.

What I would do is take a condition. Then ask myself what my assessment findings for that condition would be. Then I would work up each nursing diagnosis that I could think of in relation to that condition. Plan interventions...and outcomes..etc..etc

I know it sounds corny..but it works. I also practiced a lot of NCLEX questions. Study the rationale for why each question is right...and others are wrong. Know them in and out.

Do not overlook your pharmacology. In our school we take pharm and med/surg at the same time. IT was handy to understand medical treatment of each condition.

More over...you just need to study. I don't think I have ever studied as harder for any semester as I have for this last one with med/surg and pharm. Lets just say my work payed off. I am glad it is over. On o the next semester!!
