Is there anyone currently using the Meditech Operating Room Suite for their current OR Documentation, OR Case Scheduling, Materials Management, and Billing?
We are currently looking into changing the computer system for Surgical Services to the Meditech product to match our hospital-wide Meditech Magic platform.
Any input / experiences / issues or warnings regarding the OR Meditech product would be greatly appreciated!

Hated it. I used it at an HMA facility and thought it was extremely difficult to use. I don't know if it was the way this particular hospital utilized it...but I would not recommend it. I have found that Surginet is one of the best electronic documentation programs for the OR.

Meditech is, in my opinion, one of the easiest, no-brain DOS based programs out there. Even a caveman could use it! We have been using MediTech in our OR for over 6 years and I have found I can do all my charting in about 2 minutes! Now I can't speak for the other poster because I am not sure how their OR has the charting set-up, but simple is the only word I can use to describe it. I only wish they would have used a Windows based program instead of the older, out-dated DOS version. It is very easy to change fields in the program and make it more user-friendly and the operator can decide where important fields should go. We use a tremendous amount of drop-down boxes so input is very fast. Good luck

I have used Meditech and also found it to be user friendly after a learning curve. I like that the program allows for (I think 3 or 4) customer-defined screens so the program can be built to your specific facilities' needs.
The key to Meditech (In my opinion), is in having your dictionaries built properly from the beginning, to support scheduling, OR documentation, materials management and billing as they are all tied together.
good luck,

God, I think I'd be happy wiht ANY computer system in the OR.
I used Meditech on a Rehab unit & found it so simple that I think a toddler would be able to use it. Never had the joy of using it in the OR, but anything has got to be better than 8 pages of carbon triplicate to be filled out.
Guess I am outnumbered. Maybe it was just the way this facility used it. Oh well.
