Hello
I was wondering if anyone else has robots that deliver meds to the units and labwork to the lab from their units. We don't have a tube system so medications and labs originally had to be "hand-delivered" by our transport people.
What is your take on these "robots"? They claim that it only costs $5/robot/hour to lease these things from the manufacturer. They also claim nobody is losing their jobs but I find that hard to believe.

omigosh! When I first read the title to this post, I thought it was poking fun at the post that debated the idea of Medication Aides...haha:chuckle
never seen a med robot and it seems the purpose of it would be to eliminate jobs.
Our labs are faxed to the nursing station from the lab and also can be accessed from the computer. Meds are delivered by pharmacy staff right to med cart and missed meds are tubed up.

We had Rosie (remember the Jetsons and their robot maid Rosie???) and she was great. When lab or pharmacy didn't have someone available to bring us what we needed, Rosie was there.
The problem we did have with this system was the constant questions. What is that? How does it work? Can you make her do anything you want? Does she get a weekly paycheck? Can she run over little children? How does she call for an elevator? Time saved from going to get "X" myself was used in explaining Rosie.

me too! lol
We don't use any robots at our hospital. During the day, either pahrmacy brings the meds to the floor or you have to go get them. At night, our pharmacy is closed and you have to go downstairs and search in the night cabinet, praying the med is available.
