Medication flashcards

I'm a nurse from Germany and I applied to the California board of Registered Nursing a while ago. I got my eligibility letter and the ATT. Of course now I'm studying like crazy, it's been 6 years that I actually worked.

Most of the stuff I read is familiar but I'm having trouble with Pharmacology, especially all the meds. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some flashcards I can use. Kaplan, Mosby's, etc... I'm studying with Saunders Nclex review which helps me a lot so far! Any info, preferences, or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I just made my own flashcards from a med book. Just look up the ones that you are required to know and ask your professor to guide you in what information is most important. Usually it's side effects. Then make your own cards..... Also, welcome to America where Medication fixes the issues you have because of the other Medications you are on....haha. Sad but true.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I'm all on my own, where can I find the ones I'm required to know? Thanks!

I would say your best best is to search on the internet for Nclex review Meds in the state of California. I would give you the list of Meds I have so far but I am from NY so it would be different. Maybe you can post something calling out to California Nursing students and ask one of them for a list of required Meds. In NY, I'm 90% sure we dont get tested on meds on the state exam. But it may be different where you are. Good Luck!

if you go to your local bookstore or look on amazon, there are several study guides dedicated solely to the meds you will need to know on your exam. you will definitely be tested on meds- nclex is a national exam and thus all states test for meds. it may also be helpful for you to attend a refresher course or nclex review course at one of your local community colleges, this will help prepare you to sit for the exam.
