Night float?

Specialties Med-Surg

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm a foreign RN,I just passed my N'CLEXRN and I would like to know how is the work in Med/Surg nursing during the night float.I plan to work for 10-12 hours(but would prefer 10 hours).Which is the nurse/patient ratios?Which is the salary? Can I always work in night float,I mean no rotation with day float?Thank you very much to answer me.

Joun :)

You float to different units filling in wherever they need help. You should not have to work days, unless you want. There are always plenty of holes to fill on nights.

Depends on which hospital that you will be at. Nurse patient rations can be as low as 4 and up to about 7-8, on average. But each hospital has their own policies.

Have you completed your English exams already?

Good luck.................. :balloons:
