Does any one know the generic form of meridia(Sibutramine)?

As that drug has not been on the market that long - there probably is not one available for sale - but I could be wrong.
Most drugs are exclusively handled by the company that formulated them/brought them to market for a certain period of time before the generic can be made available for other companies to market. This helps the company recover some of the cost of developing/marketing the drug.
As such, the drug is probably expensive, and as it is for weight loss, unless used for gross obesity, it probably will not be covered by insurance.
It is also addictive and easily abused - therefore costs will probably stay high d/t cost of DEA regulation. On a personal info note, I have generally only seen short term weight loss in patients taking it, the weight frequently returns after med is DC'd.

Yeah, I think they have the patent for seven years before it can become generic, can you get samples from your doc?
