I moving to VA from MI so this is one of the schools I was checking out too. I talked to a counselor and she was evasive about the cost which tells me it's an arm and a leg. She did say they are having an open house in April though.
I downloaded a list of nursing colleges in VA and darn I can't remember what site I got it from, but it may have been the VA Board of Nursing site. Anyway I don't think this schools accrediation has been approved.

I can tell you that it is a brand new program that has not yet graduated it's first class. And as you also probably realize, it is a "vocational" school and neither a college nor university. Those things don't necessarily make it "bad," but you need to realize that the institution is just getting started in the "business" of RN education and is still in the process of figuring out how to do things. It doesn't have a track record yet to use to evaluate how well they are doing.
While I know they have plans to apply for accreditation in the future and they are hopeful that credits earned at their school will be transferable to colleges for people who want to pursue additional education later in their careers .... these things have not happened yet and will remain "unknowns" for a couple of years.
Good luck,

Hey, I applied to the school and got some info on it. The RN program will graduate it's first class in May 2006 and will apply for the accrediation. I'm thinking that it will succeed since it's the #1 school for LPNs. It is accredited by(i forget it's proper name) b/c if it wasn't, then the students wouldn't be able to sit for the nclex. But it is going for another, I think the league. I was inform that the credits will get accepted by others, hospitals and schools, etc. It's also an ASD program. It is very expensive though(27,000)
I go to ODU but decided to transfer to a diff. school, since I not ready for a BSN(got a baby, need money, G.P.A. not high enough for program) It interested me b/c the program is only 15m. I hope that it will work out for me.
Thanks!
Do you know what the curriculum is?

The cost for ADN starting in Jan is 33.6K which is 10K more then the LPN program but it also has 50% more credits. Its 15 months of very intense work btu I can tell you it does appear VA Beach has their act together. They have really awesome equiptment (computerized) to practice on before you ever get working on patients and what not. Additionally compared to our current campus its night and day. Were currently up at Roanoke and are transfering to VA Beach for RN in January and transfering our credits (21 so far) down there and get a much better educational experience. I just think up here the medical students (LPN and MA) here in Roanoke are the redheaded step children
