Hello all!
I am currently a CMA, but have found that working at a particular company who chooses not to employ LPN's are making us the MA's do the work.. Though we are not licensed we do the same tasks. Vitals, CC's, Triage, Injections, Morgan Lenses, suture removals and in some cases start IV's. WHAT IS GOING ON!!! They claim we are working under a doctors license so we should be capable of doing as the doctors ask. Ofcourse most of the time they are present if we are starting an IV for example, and at our facility we rarely do, but maybe once or twice a year. Does anyone see something wrong with this also??? Am I wrong for thinking this way?? I know some states have their ways, but come on not jersey. Can someone please enlighten me???
Thanks:clown:

Um, what you are being asked to do is outside your scope of practice. Being "under" a medical license has nothing to do with YOUR legal scope of practice. If an MD asked you to put in a chest tube, would you do it?
I recommend you contact your licensing board, and get info to back you up. You need to protect your license.
Yes this is true, but in that case I would most definately have to decline even if it ment my job because there are certain things I cannot do. Wether it is under supervision or not I feel I should not be doing this. I do not want to come across as being insabornate, but like you said... That is out of my scope of practice. I have no license to protect because I am only a certified MA. How ever just like a nurse I can have my certification revoked. Thanks for the info you have provided....
