I start my Med Surg clinical in a few weeks. Any suggestions on some type of clipboard/organizier that any of you have found helpful?

Go to the first one and see what others who work there have. I have worked in different environments and found different styles useful. When I worked in LTAC (similar population to med/surg), everything was on paper, so I had a storage clipboard that I carried policies and different office supplies that I found helpful in my day-to-day work (calculator, ruler, post-its, reference book). In my current med/surg job we document on the computer so I just use a regular clipboard and it meets my needs.

I'm currently in MedSurg clinical and I carry a clipboard that opens up where I keep pens, notes and patient info. The other students use clipboards too. We have to do a lot of writing so the clipboards are very helpful. Some of the clipboards are thick enough to hold a thin book or pack of drug cards.

I use a regular clip board. I have so many pockets that I don't need any extra storage space and I have my backpack for any additional materials I want to have that we leave in the nurses lounge.

I have a hard folder that I use that has a pocket in one side and a pad of paper on the other. I love that I can easily close it to cover pt info, and it's light enough to haul with me everywhere. I have a lot of people asking me where I found it (the university bookstore).
