My honey is on coumadin but doesn't wear a bracelet or any type of jewelry. I'd like to purchase something for him, but he won't wear the standard steel bracelet or necklace. I've searched around and found many people who will make hand stamped charms or other alert jewelry, but I wanted to check to make sure that medical professionals would pay attention to non-"standard" jewelry before I get something for him. Thanks. Song

Working in ER I can tell you I'd never check a piece of jewelry that just looked engraved. Really only the standard bracelet or necklace...and Ive done ER about ten yrs.

What about a watch? Medalert makes a wrist watch version of a bracelet

That's horrible. I am a diabetic (type 1), and wear a tiffany style bracelet with and engraved charm on it stating "diabetic insulin" on both sides of the charm. I would think that as a medical professional, it's horrible practice to overlook an engraved bracelet because it doesn't look like it'd be a medical bracelet.
