Hi everyone!

Can someone please tell me if "crush" is an acronym in regards to a urology procedure? Thanks.

I work on a urology floor and I've never heard the term. A little background or context may be helpful. Where did you see/hear the term?

What you're seeing in this article is not an acryonym. A "crush injury" is an injury where something has actually been crushed in a traumatic event--MVA, fall, etc.

I got report from a nurse who said the patient had a "c.r.u.s.h" and went on to say that the patient didn't have the "h" part. I know the patient had a cystoscopy and retrograde pyelogram with stent placement. I have been a nurse for about 6 months, so I was a little embarrased to ask what the heck she meant. I always ask questions when I'm not sure about something, but I thought maybe the acronym was something really common that I should have known. I was thinking maybe the "c" in crush stood for cystoscopy and then "r" for retrograde pyelogram, so on an so forth.

Please ask someone & do share the answer. I'm stumped!

wonder if this is specific to that institution?

?ureteric stent h------

if you get a chance, maybe the op note would be enlightening?

Ok, I found out today! It is an acronym for Cystoscopy Retrograde Ureteroscopy Stent placement and Holmium laser. Thanks for all the replies!

See? In nursing, you learn at least one thing new every day! I have a new acronym (but I'm not sure we do the Holmium laser thing at our hospital). How does C.R.U.S. sound? Not as cool.
