MDS 3.0 training and re-certification

Just wondering if anyone is yet researching seminars for the new 3.0 version? I am receiving AANAC's mail but no other. I see multiple publishers are now advertising their manuals and wonder which are most user friendly. I was certified long ago by Diane Brown's course through NASPAC and I currently use the manual she edited. I will have to come back from my re-cert course to teach our staff the changes and hope to locate the most relevant course-work and materials that I can find. Thanks

Hi. If you are a self-directed learner with common sense and ability to think logically, CMS will post all Train the Trainer materials they use during their training sessions either on the MDS 3.0 site or the National Conference site. We should also learn shortly about CMS on-line education and tutorials. This should be all the information you will need.

MDS information and analysis now being offered (at great cost) may change greatly within the next few months. The RAI coordinator in each state is responsible for training within each state AFTER the March and April Train The Trainer workshops are completed. He/she may be your most reliable contact.

Good luck to us all!

CMS has stated repeatedly that people need to wait until after the March/April training conferences before they take MDS 3.0 training. We know that CMS already plans to make a lot of revisions to the MDS 3.0 RAI Manual just before the March state personnel training conference next week. Many of the changes are grammatical but some will also have an impact on how MDS are completed. I suspect that more changes will be made between the training conferences and October 1. Always keep an eye on the CMS website for updates to the MDS RAI Manual.
