MDS Coders?

I am trying to gather information from some other MDS coordinators out there. I am an MDS coordinator at a CCRC. We have 66 beds, mixed medicare and private pay, ALF, ILF. I have worked as the MDS coordinator for the last 5 years. Recently our billing/coding person left and I have picked up the medical coding as well. I don't have experience with this but I am able to find the codes due to my medical knowledge. I am not opposed to continuing the coding but I will need to find a class to improve my knowledge base. I am looking for a class geared toward MDS coordinators who also do the coding in the facility. I am mostly finding classes that are for coder/billing. My administrator told me that he has been told that most MDS coordinators code as well. I was not aware of that. We do "code" the MDS, and add Dx codes but as far as the medical coder position I am not sure that is a job that MDS coordinators do in addition to their jobs. Can any MDS coordinators give me an idea of how that works in their facilities?
