MD Anderson Nurse Residency Program

Published

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else was starting the new grad residency program in sept/oct at MD Anderson and if you've heard back yet about which unit you'll be on. I'm relocating for the position from IL in Oct and am REALLY excited!

Just thought I would start a thread so we could all talk and keep each other updated :)

Hi! I will be starting September 23 on the inpatient leukemia unit working FT nights. I'm a Houston native, but moved to CO for nursing school at CU-Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus. So excited to be back and so honored for this opportunity! Can't wait to meet everyone :)

That's so exciting! I can't wait to find out where I am placed :) I am pretty sure I am going to start Oct 7, to give myself a little time after graduation/NCLEX before the move. Since you are from Houston originally, do you mind giving any recommendations of which areas to look for apartments/to stay away from? I'm thinking ill probably want to be somewhat close to the med center at least at first

Thanks!

Hi there! I'll be starting at MD Anderson also! Couldn't be more excited! I should receive my unit/shift this week, and I'm going to request to start September 7. Just moved out here a month ago and loving it so far!

That's great to hear you're enjoying Houston :) I wont get to move until right before I start (Oct 7th) but I'm really looking forward to exploring it... Ill need one of you guys to show me around! But Allie had let me know she'll be calling me by tomorrow to extend the official offer and they're approving a position on the Leukemia unit for me- so excited!! Im not sure which shift yet, but Im kind of hoping for nights. Keep me updated with which unit you get :)

So I went to high school in the Bellaire/Galleria area (EHS), but lived in Friendswood so honestly I'm probably not the best person to ask...sorry! I do know midtown, River Oaks, Bellaire, over by Rice village, the Galleria area, and some others are nice places if you do some searching online. The med center is nice but it's also pricey if you want that. Houston has pockets of good and bad, but you'll make your way around soon enough :) I'll be living at home once I move back from Colorado, but am looking in the Galleria area. Hope that helps--I'll be happy to take anyone around and meet y'all!

Thanks so much for the advice, and I might take you up on showing me around at some point :) I accepted my offer officially yesterday.. Full time inpatient leukemia nights, so I believe well be working together :)

Hello everyone! I know this thread is a bit old... just wondering when you started the interview process were you sent an e-mail to take a 79 question assessment?

I should have looked at my HR status before I took the assessment lol will it automatically change the status depending on if you passed or failed?

thank you!
