Mckendree University - BSN progam??

Published

Does anyone know anything about Mckendree's nursing program? I am trying to find all the information I can on nursing schools in and around the St. Louis area - I already know about SLU, UMSL, and SIUE. If anyone knows about Mckendree or any other program in this area please share..any information will be helpful. Thanks!!

Yes!!! It is an RN to BSN program, so you need to have your associate degree in nursing (ie SWIC, Lewis & ClarK, Stl. Community College system). There is no application fee, no deadline so you can still get in, and there are no prerequisites other than having your RN or if you are a new grad you need to be eligible to sit for boards. The tuition is really low because there is a special tuition rate for RN's, and if you get reimbursement from your employer, they will defer that specific amount until the end of the semester for you.

You can call 1-800-232-7228, ext 6411. Good Luck!!!

Great program, I attend classes in very southern IL. Love it so far only 1 year to go and all the teachers are awsome. The online classes are pretty good too.

Specializes in ED Nursing, Critical Care Nursing.

Nadja9 and/or Grubby98,

I will be starting the McKendree RN-BSN program in August. I'm planning on doing it part-time, and I wonder if you could comment on a few things. First, what is the "degree of difficulty" of the coursework? I mean, how much time do you typically put into a course during the week? Will this be similar to the coursework in ADN? I'm most concerned about the nursing research course. It's been three years since I took statistics, and I do not remember any of it at this point. I'm thinking of starting with the 2 credit hour nursing theory course or the family nursing course. I'm about to start my new RN job, and I will be doing a critical care internship that is supposed to be very involved. I want to get started with my BSN studies, but I don't want to overload myself with that and this internship (which is supposed to last 8 months). I'm not sure what I should start with. Any advice or information about your experience with Mckendree would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Sorry just getting back to you John. The course work is not as intense as ADN education. The hardest part is the papers you have to write. Mckendree makes them ahve a major paper in every class. You will be fine with research I took it after having statistics abour 3 years before. I have took atleast 2 classes every semester except over the summer and it is very managable. I normally can spend half to a full day during everything that I need or maybe less for class. I had martha mcdonald as a teacher for first year and she is awsome if you have something personal going on or work load you just have to talk to her about it all. If you have any more questions just send me an email at [email protected] I am able to respond sooner through email.
