Has anyone worked on a unit as a new nurse that they just don't feel like is a good fit?
I love being a nurse and I love my patients and their families and I do like ICU, I just feel like the environment is very negative and discouraging with little teamwork. I know I shouldn't quit before a year, but I also feel like I worked way too hard to get here to be miserable. I had to start taking antidepressants to deal with my anxiety and mental state.
Feeling very discouraged and beat down. I know the grass isn't always greener, but I have to wonder if maybe this just isn't the unit for me.
I would love to hear from some nurses who have felt this way and gone on to quit and find something else that ended up being a good fit.

I feel you! I work in a Peds clinic. I appreciate my job and I love my patients. However, I am just bored. I miss using my skills. Doctors can be condescending. My preceptor is a bully and management is a joke. Unfortunately my cons far outweight my pros. I am currently searching for a new job. How long have you been on your unit? I'd recommend giving it some time. I have a couple months in here, so I have a pretty good idea that I won't want to be here forever. If you aren't happy, see what else is out there! What's meant to be will be/ Start job hunting, and for now keep plugging away and getting experience and a paycheck! :) Good luck! Keep us posted.
I've been there a little over 4 months. So I'm just not sure what giving it more time will change, but I am still on the fence about leaving. Ugh.
