Maximum security, a little apprehensive

Published

Hi everyone, well I'm supposed to orient for 2 days next week for a per diem position... and I'm a little worried.

It is a maximum security prison, the name is a little infamous, and I'm somewhat concerned. How safe is this?

My mother, with whom I live, was very upset when I told her, and said that a lot of these inmates don't care about consequences because they're there for life anyway... so they don't care if a C.O. has a gun to their head, they'll attack you anyway...I know she's my mother, so of course she's worried, but I want to know how real the threat is.

Does anyone work in a max. security prison? How does it compare to medium or minimum? Any advice?

I would rather work in max security than minimum/jail, etc. Didn't like the latter at all. Had no real issues and neither did my colleagues.

I'm sure that cannot be said everywhere, but for me, no real issues.
