You have two problems here. You need to figure out the safe dose range for this child, and then you need to compare it to what has been ordered.

What have you done so far to figure those things out?

I am guessing the drug is 200,000 units not 2000,00 so...

400,000/200,000x5ml = 10 ml

Hope this helps.

Make that three problems! You also need to do your math to find out the amount to give based on the order, if the order is a safe range.

Hi. I know you're trying to be helpful, but providing answers will not help the OP work his/her way through this problem or any others he/she comes across.

BTW, did you determine whether or not the order is within the safe range prior to calculating based on what is available?

no not yet i dont know how to figure that out

A clue is given in your problem here:

dose range 25,000-90,000 units/kg/day in three to six divided doses

The patient is 53 pounds.

Start from there.

Well, what's the safe dose range per day for this particular patient?

Yes, I'm checking to make sure you just didn't take another poster's answer and move on. :)

at clinical rotations will post later
