I figured out everything else, but what is the concentration in this problem?

Order 16mcg/kg/min of a med

Supply 80mg of med in 100 mL NS

Pt wt 176 lbs

concentration = ??

kg = 80kg

mg/hr = 77

ml/hr = 96

I'm so confused with your question. I've never seen a mcg/kg/min. I've seen mcg (or whatever wt)/kg/dose or day. Tried to work out your question & don't know how you even got the mg/hr or ml/hr.

The concentration is 80 mg in 100 ml - that would make it 0.8mg/ml concentration.

Could be wrong....good luck!

80mg/100ml or 0.8mg/1ml is the concentration (unit of measure)

mg/hr= 1mg/1000mcg x 16mcg/kg/min x 1kg/2.2# x 176#/min x 60min/hr = 168960/2200 = 76.8 or 77mg/hr

ml/hr= 100ml/80mg x 1mg/1000mcg x 16mcg/kg/min x 1kg/2.2# x 176#/min x 60min/hr = 16896000/176000 = 96ml/hr

Order 16mcg/kg/min of a med

Supply 80mg of med in 100 mL NS

Pt wt 176 lbs

1. convert 16 mcg to mg = 0.16mg

2. 80kgx0.16mg = 1.28mg/min.

2. 1.28mg/min x 60min = 76.8mg/hr

4. 76.8mg/hr divided by 80mg x 100mL= 96mL/h
