Good morning - I was wondering if I could get someone to give me a nudge to get me started on my care plan ..I am normally pretty good at them but this patient has no apparent issues to tag with an ND -

the patient is 41 2/7weeks, blind but has support network in place to help with child, home birth with 2 midwives, 8cm, +1, coping well with labor

Any thoughts???

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw, this is for school - not a reall person

If you don't see any needs for "negative" NDs, you can always use "Readiness for enhanced..." NDs. I think they tend to be more appropriate for maternal clients anyway, because the pt is often healthy, just going through a normal process of pregnancy and birth.

thanks - its always so obvious AFTER some one points it out to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, understood...plus, being that most RNs work with ill clients, "enhanced readiness" is rarely ever the priority! So it's never really at the top of our minds...

This is interesting... why would you be developing a care plan for a home birth?

a school assignment - it had me stumped for a bit but I got an A on it!

I figured it was for school, I'm just surprised that it was an assignment. I've worked in home birth for 10 years in two states with CNMs and RNs who are licensed midwives and have never seen any kind of care plan with nursing diagnoses for home birth beyond an arrival on scene SOAP note that included "expected management" as the P. Narrative entries during labor and birth, an extended delivery note, and a discharge note.

I'm impressed!
