Massasoit Fall 2018

Published

I keep searching for the Massasoit 2018 applicants waiting for someone to create a post so i figured i would just start it off! How does everyone feel about their application!? When I went to the information session, they said that everyone with a 55 and higher was accepted for the last cohort. I have a 60 not including what they give me for my personal interest letter so I am feeling semi confident lol. I hate waiting!!

Just means they looked at your records or added something (like transcripts) to it

Hi everyone! This is for future reference and for anyone who may need to get this done:

If you need to be certified or recertified for CPR/AED, Carney Hospital in Dorchester offers the cheapest courses in the Boston area. It costs $40 and you can receive your card right after training has ended on the very same day. It is the course provided by the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support CPR. Courses are offered every week, either on Thursday or Saturday, with the days alternating between each other each week. The Thursday courses are offered in the evening (6 pm - 10 pm), while the Saturday courses are done during the day (10 am - 2 pm). I have done my certification there twice and have enjoyed the format they present to their students and how they teach it to the students. (I always do the Saturday morning option and the class tends to end early... :D)

If you are looking for an affordable option, try looking into it. Here is a link to their website, as well as their other course offerings: https://www.cprboston.org.

Newbies and experienced health care professionals are all welcome to take part in these classes!!

I hope this helps!

Awesome, thanks for the info!

Has any LPNs heard anything yet?

Not yet. Checking my degree works daily. Mine hasn't been audited since feb 10 when I turned everything in. Getting impatient!

Not yet here either, I checked my degree works and it hasn't been edited since May 23rd!

Anyone hear anything yet? For LPN to RN?

Nothing as of yet. I did notice my career works was audited yesterday so they are actively working on it

Random question, but just wanted an opinion: Is it worth getting a CNA certification before going to school in the Fall?

I have read that you are qualified to test for the CNA exam after the first semester of clinicals ( not sure if that's true) so wondering if I should just save my money and do that. I would like to work as a CNA while in the program.

Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

I've been told that being a CNA can work against you in the regards that you get used to doing it one way vs testing in nursing school by the books. Cna is pretty much the first semester is nursing school. If you truly want to be a nurse I wouldn't waste your time/money

Thank you. I currently work full time in Marketing so I am thinking of health care related jobs I can work part time while in the program.
