What's the average salary of Boston nurses?

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hello,

I am just curious about this, as I may be moving to the area and want to know what to expect. I would really love responses as I kinda need to know this information soon! t.

I should clarify that I have about 5years of experience. t.

With 5 years of experience I would say about $34/hr. I base this on the average new grad salary in Boston being $26/hr. This is without shift diff. It also depends on the facility (union vs non union) that you work at

thanks for the reply! how about boston children's?

At Childrens you should start at about $32/hr not counting your ppc. They do not have shift differential they have the PPC system (professional pay code). This system averages out the shift diff and pays you a "percentage" of that no matter what shift you work (this is the same system used at the Boston hospital that I currently work at). Initially I thought it was fair but am finding out that my counterparts are making more that I do. Also Boston Childrens is a non union hospital. New grads start at $25/hr plus the ppc. As an example I am a new grad and was started at $25.75/hr plus $2.25 ppc for a total of $28/hr. With the ppc system if you work more nights than days your ppc increases, if you work more days than nights your ppc decreases I dont know what the ppc is for Childrens but my classmate says its about the same as where I work. I know it confusing but I hope this helps!

it does, thanks! I would welcome any more responses, as I am kinda using this information as a benchmark to compare other opportunities. t.
