CNA's in Western MA

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hi everyone! I will be completing my CNA course in two weeks and just looking for any help on salaries in the Springfield, MA area. I was wondering if anyone has worked at Mercy as a CNA or PCT as they call it, or Baystate as a TA, as they refer to a CNA, if so what are the hourly wages. Also any other employer salary info for the are would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I pm'd you

I am hoping you can help me. I am signed up to take the A&P I at STCC for the summer. I am hoping to be an RN. I have 3 kids at home and the flexiblity seems like a great idea. Currently I do daycare at home and I am working towards a new career. Sorry about the intro, my question is .... Would it be in my best interst to take the CNA program at Red Cross? Do you think that would help me in my new endeavor? Also can you let me in on the average salary for Baystate or Mercy? Those are the closest to me. Thanks for your anticipated help. Shan

I worked at Baystate as a snap/ta for the past year during my last year of nursing school. I have to say that it was a great experience. I feel that it helped me to be organized and helped with prioritizing and also my skills. In school it is often easy to tell who is a cna and who isn't during clinical.

I would recommend working as a cna for sure, I wish that I had done that before even starting nursing school. Good luck!

Where did you take the Cna Course?

Where did you take the Cna Course?

I don't know if this is directed to me or the OP, but I'll answer anyway!

I didn't take a cna course, I had two semesters of clinical in Nursing school and they consider that to be qualifying. I believe the OP did it through the red cross, but I'm trying to remember from 5 months ago so I could very well be wrong!

SNAP (Student Nurse Apprentice Program) wage begins at $13 this summer. I assume this is equivalent to TA pay as the job is IDENTICAL. Hope this helps, and best wishes at STCC.
