massachusetts Boards ?

Published

Hi all, just officially gaduated yesterday with my BSN and have some questions of the boards.

I sent in the form this morning and also just submitted the online application. It says on the paper form that I'd receive an email in about 2 days with ATT and test dates etc. ??

I'm confused by this because I've heard it takes a few weeks to get a test date and this email from others. How long does it take to get a date? can't find many specifics online.

thanks!

Congrats on graduating :)

You aren't taking any "boards", but you are going to take the NCLEX ;)

Each Board of Nursing operates in its own world, own timetable, but generally speaking what you will receive from the BoN is just the ATT (Authorization to Test). It is then up to you to contact Pearson Vue, the entity that runs every testing center that administers the NCLEX, and schedule a date with them. The BoN doesn't schedule you, they only authorize your test eligibility.

Might take a few days, might be longer. Depending on how crammed PV's schedule is at the site you want to go to, could take weeks to get a spot...or less. CAN'T give you more specifics than that, as it depends on when you're doing it; this is an insanely busy time of year as everyone is graduating and looking to do what you are doing (of course!) but it's not a big deal from what I'm seeing here.

Just make sure ALL your paperwork is submitted COMPLETE so that when you pass the exam you aren't delayed in getting a license issued because you haven't gotten around to giving them something.

Good luck!

Thank you! So what I am understanding is that the online application is what will set you up with a test date and the forms I have mailed in are for the actual license? I have done both of these today

Not sure what online application you mean; again, your Board of Nursing does not set you up with a test date, they only AUTHORIZE the test (ATT). Once you have this notice that you are eligible to test, YOU then contact Pearson Vue to set up the actual test date. That's between you and PV, but cannot happen until the BoN gives you the green light. Does that help?
