Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, Substance Addiction Recovery Program (SARP) - Evaluator Help

Published

I have tried for months to get an evaluation done to get into Massachusetts sarp but no licensed person will fill out the twenty page form. Does anyone know an evaluator that will help in Massachusetts or western Massachusetts? Thank you times running out desperate

Did you find someone? I am in Western MA, familiar with SARP, and may be able to help.

Hi Trail Runner. I did find someone and have a virtual appt Oct 1. I will not bee 100 percent sure until the eval is done however because I've been through this before and the evaluator ditched me after the first meeting and refused to help. I will let you know how it goes. I appreciate you getting back to me and I read a few of your post so am Interested in corresponding with you in the future. Thanks Chas

Best of luck!

I was in the program for 10 years. I am happy to offer a helping hand. Stay in touch and keep your chin up. My path is not normal, but I can help you stay WNL.

Peace.

Hello,

When I had my evaluation done in 2014, SARP gave me a list of approved evaluators in my area. If they are not providing this service any longer, I would start by going to the Healthcare Provider meetings in your area. Not only are these a great resource for your recovery, many of these professionals (MDs, RNs) have had to have evaluations completed and will be able to steer you in the right direction.

I have been going to my Healthcare Provider meeting religiously for over 10 years. It's loosely based on AA and they have seen me through the worst parts of my recovery. They are my family.

If they did in the past The Board no longer gives a list of approved providers telling me it is a conflict of interest. The also rudley admonished me twice telling me it's part if the program to make sure your smart enough and responsible enough to be able to find an evaluator.

What are the current qualifications to be an evaluator? A lot has changed since I was in the program.
