UMMC doesn't have a specific orientation start time. The classes are offered at different times so you could start on the floor for a few weeks before actually going to class.
HR takes forever to get back to you; I think I ended up calling some random number and they just transferred me over to the right person. I work on a med-surg/tele floor that is a very friendly with new grads-and may have some openings. If you want more details or have questions message me.

HI...I'm a Filipino Nurse, planning to work in Maryland someday... Just wanna ask regarding direct-employment in any of the hospitals in Maryland, is it possible?

Hi I got a job recently at Johns Hopkins for the Aug. orientation. I think that the availability depends on what type of job you would like to do. But do you have a leg up since you have already passed the boards!

Did you apply through their website? I looked recently, and there aren't really jobs for new grads. Any info would be awesome...Thanks!
gogatsby, I did apply through the website but it was in the end of december, beginning of january. They got back in touch with me in 2weeks or so for an interview. I hope something comes up for you...good luck!

Hi, I am new to the forum. Congratulations! I am happy to hear that you got a job in Johns Hopkins. I think the Johns Hopkins is very difficult to enter. I guess you were already a insider when you applied for the job. Because I have checked the JH website, the jobs opened to public are some PRN jobs and NP jobs.
Is that right?
Thanks a lot!

Hi, I have followed the instructions from UMMC website, I filled the forms twice. According to the UMMC website, a nurse expert will call me back within 48 hours, but two months have pased, no one has called. Then I thought they are very busy, so I applied online, but never get any word... It's difficult! Any advice for me? Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem! I moved here from Texas last month and I can not find a job!!! I did not know I would have to compete with all the new grads that snapped up the extern positions. I graduated in 08 and took a year off because I had a baby and my husband was deployed to Iraq. Now I am ready to work and can't. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

No I wasn't an insider, I applied via the website that is open to the public. I applied though in January and was very lucky to be offered a job in the one and only unit that I applied for! I really hope more options open up for you! good luck!
