Marquette University - Direct Entry MSN Spring 2023

Published

Hi, I just got accepted into Marquette University's Sp 2023 Cohort in Pleasant Prairie. I'm from Houston and was hoping to connect with some of my fellow classmates or maybe even those still waiting on admissions.

Does anyone have any financial advice for funding the DE-MSN program?

@kirbyyy I don't know how I missed this message. I apologize for my late response. I hope you are now closer to a final decision on the next steps in your nursing journey. I am 26 years old and I am very happy to stay in touch. Please always always reach out and if I take more than a week to respond do post again.  If you decide on Marquette, I would love love to meet up for tea/coffee. Please keep me posted.

@cdobay, if you are tight on cash stay in the grad dorms they are like $300/month & furnished. You can probably get a campus meal plan as well for cheap. Apply for FAFSA, but make sure you have enough money to sustain you for about 2 months for your move. If you are low-income, you would likely get about $10K refund which will aid in paying for your housing, meals, and other living expenses. However, keep in mind that this refund might take a few weeks so you'll want to have some cash.  There are also nursing scholarships, look into nursing associations (maybe join some), or check with your previous institution to see if they will offer you any parting gifts. There are paid internships and fellowships (Marquette doesn't really offer much in this regard), YouTube is a wealth of resource. Lastly, there is working. If you are a CNA, I would say that you can get away with working on the weekends only, or I would say work overnight so you can study. You will be miserable working, but I've realized lately that a few people are doing it. If you are a quick study and truly dedicated (be honest with yourself) you can work. Keep in mind though, you have to keep a certain GPA or you will not be able to keep going with your cohort. (NOTE: I am not speaking on behalf of/representing Marquette in anyway, I am just sharing my personal experiences)

Hi guys can you guys give an update as to how the program going? Is this also in the pleasant pairie location?
