Just wanted to create a post for those of us applying for CRNA school at Marquette for August 2021 start. Would love to hear your experience!

im glad you created this post. Im in the process of applying again. This is probably one of the hardest programs to get in due to how small the class is (10).

I’m sure! I’m super nervous about it. Since you applied before, what was your experience?

I didn't get to interview. Is this your first time applying to CRNA school?

Yes it is my first.

I have already interviewed at other schools. My best advice to you is to apply to more than one and to know your ICU experience well. Whatever is on your resume is fair game. Whatever you mention during the interview will be used against you. In other words, you're in control of how the interview goes if that makes sense. I have used my failures to learn from them and just get used to many NOs before you get a yes. And if you do get a yes right away, I'd be super grateful and good job selling yourself to the panel. I don't believe in luck when it comes to this.

Thank you for the advice. I haven’t first hand dealt with interviews to grad school, but like you said, I’ve heard they can be brutal. We will see what happens...

also applying to Marquette! I am nervous since I don't have CRNA shadowing experience, thanks to COVID. I am trying to squeeze in some hours before the deadline if I can arrange it. How many hours did you all shadow?

I shadowe for a few days. Just make sure that when you do, follow the CRNA from start to finish. I found that some people realized it wasn't for them after spending a few days shadowing. Like all SRNAs say, you have to have a deep passion for this if you wanna push through the stress of school.

I think they will understand just because of COVID, so don’t stress about it! I honestly don’t know when they will start allowing shadowing at hospitals. May not be before the application period is over. But for your sake, you should know if it’s even what you want to do. I’ve had friends that really wanted to be a CRNA, then shadowed one and hated it. Being in ICU, you probably give/get report from OR from them. But what they actually do in OR can be different from what you think.

Either way, I wouldn’t stress too much about it. COVID has made everything difficult!

So it’s been a hot minute. Has anyone heard from the university? Because I applied so ungodly early, I received an email a week or so ago asking if still wanted to be considered for the program. But that’s about it.

Haven’t heard anything either. Just got an email reminding us of the deadline of Jan. 15th. Did you guys go to the virtual open house?

There’s another virtual open house January 24th, but IDK if it’s for the whole university or specifically for CRNA school. I suggest just attending it so you have an idea why you wanna go to the school.

Does anyone know if STATS is required to be 5 years before start of program at the application or can you take it once u get admitted. My stats class will be 6 years old by the time program starts

Statistics must be completed within five years of program start date. Once you are admitted, I think you could take it at that point. There’s also an exam you can take to prove you don’t need to take another class!
