If you're interested in pursuing this program, beware that you are going into a program that will leave you scratching your heads as to how unorganized it is. Course content in pathophysiology and nursing care for the adult client lacks a lot to be desired and instructors disappear into cyberspace for a week at a time or more without any correspondence, if they even bother to return emails at all. Certain instructors are just coasting off of material available for previous classes and literally doing nothing to earn their paychecks. The bottom line is that some of the online instructors put virtually zero effort into enhancing the learning and then wonder why test scores are so low. We consistently have to ask for homework assignments due that aren't even posted and exams posted on the website in no way translates to what material exactly is being covered.
If you want to a lot, this is the program for you.
@Pilolo how is it going so far? I would like to find out more about the program . I am currently doing prerequisite courses and should start the nursing program Spring 2017 in Nashville-> insight please....How many students are in your cohort? How are the instructors? Have you been able to get the help you need? Do the students form study groups?
Are the graduates getting jobs after completion in Tn.?
Please feel free to respond if you are at or have been enrolled at the Nashville location.
Thanks
Hi, so, it's an interesting program for sure.
I came from science and engineering, so the coursework is mostly easy. The variable you must put in is time. For some, it's higher. Ending by first week of May, the first semester isn't as bad. I'm very certain we're going to have a few people fail out. If you fail two classes in one semester, that's it. You're done.
The skills/lab/clinicals is completely horrendous. The faculty DO NOT prepare you for the skills test. Again, you may have to do extra work just to learn the skills. But, as a physical component, it's better to SEE it done to learn it. LPN or Techs in my class have this portion locked in.
There are other quirks about the program I'd rather not rant about, who knows, one of the members here could be a 'faculty'. @Tippela, wish I could contact you personally, but you'll be fine.
Just pass your course work and learn everything you need when you (hopefully) become a nurse. The online portion will bore you to death if you aren't used to hours of recorded lectures.
Hopefully, these will help. FYI, I'm in Nashville.

Hey, there are several dozens in class. Over 20, but under 50. I think it actually makes it a little difficult for them to handle in clinical settings. Getting help is blah. I haven't been in a position to seek help from any faculty, but from those I heard who did, it's abysmal. Students form study groups- I recommend one. I'm quasi in a study group as I do better studying alone. But, I have joined in some classes that are better in groups.
One thing, make a very good friend who does well- preferably, better than you. I have an accountability partner with whom I (subliminally) compete with. She doesn't know this, but it helps me step my game up.
Exactly! That's one of the quirks with the program. I had to take theology 1 and 2 WHILE taking other heavy classes. To better understand this, I have Fundamwntaks of Nursing, Dosage Calculation, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology final exams 5/1 through 5/4. Nonstop. However, they scheduled my first theology class to start 5/1 (the same day I have final). This is completely inept- for lack of a better term.
Funny enough, I was told 3 of my prerequisites from a previous degree had expired. I retook them before the nursing program started. No one told me of the theology classes. Good thing you know before August. I don't know where you'd take 'em, though. Check portage learning online.
Good luck. Other than the many money-sapping quirks you'd soon find, it's easy work.
1) if you know the things you know now about the school would you still recommend it or make the same decision to join the school.
2) since its online, are their any possibilities I could work maybe as a CNA on the weekends or something?
3) is there some kind of program that helps you find roomates? I'm moving from California.
4) everyone keeps mentioning how beautiful the "main" campus is. Do we not take any classes at this beautiful main campus
5) do I have to move with my car from california? Can I use public transportation for clinicals
Ok. I'll start by making it clear that I'm in Nashville. Lol
I want to be a nurse. I worked as a petroleum geologist for years. If not this program, I'll still do a similar program. I would not vouch for this program.
I know a couple who work. At least 2-3, full time ( since they need to keep their tuition reimbursement) a few are part time. Don't know if any job placement programs.
Again, if in Nashville, you WILL need your car.
Aloha,
I am currently looking into Marian's ABSN in Nashville. I would be coming from Hawaii.
My background is in Health IT & Training (EMR's, reporting, etc..)
Some questions I have for current / prospective students are the following:
FINANCIAL AID:
PREREQUISITES:
PROGRAM(CURRENT STUDENTS):
Any feedback helps. I am looking to take most Prereq courses through MAP and any insight into the program will help influence my decision on pursuing a BSN through Marian.

EyeheartNursing_RN, BSN So how has it been so far? Are you in Nashville? I am hoping to start in January and wanted to learn more about the program details, challenges or expectations.
I'm coming from a hard science/engineering standpoint (although I had worked as a CNA as a college student). Any pointers will help, please
