Manitoba confusion- please help!

Published

hi. I am new to this forum, RN from the phils. I would just like to ask that if i apply under the manitoba provincial nominee program, will i just take the general ielts as indicated on their website to be able to apply under the program? or will i have to take up the academic ielts as required to be registered as a nurse?

Will it be possible to just apply under the MPNP program and not work there as a nurse?

This question more properly belongs in the International forum. The vast majority of Canadian nurses have no idea what you're talking about. RNs ANYWHERE in Canada must have the academic IELTS no matter what type of visa program they enter the country with. There are significant complexities in the language used in nursing that must be adequately prepared for so the general category just doesn't make the grade.

oh sorry i thought that international nursing and international forum are the same. I know that nurses need to take the academic ielts but i am referring to what ive read in the website of manitoba and as ive indicated on my query, what if i dont intend to work there as a nurse.

Now I'm confused. You posted in the Canadian Nurses forum. I moved the thread to the International Nursing forum. So you know that nurses must have the academic IELTS (http://cms.tng-secure.com/file_download.php?fFile_id=186). If you choose NOT to work as a nurse in Manitoba then there's no need for the academic level. You don't indicate which MPNP stream you're planning to apply for. You will need a large bankroll if you're not under the Employer Direct stream. What occupation do you plan on having your credentials assessed for? Since you're posting to a social network for NURSES it can be legitmately assumed you're going to be assessed as an RN. If you're planning to move to Manitoba and work as a waitress or a cleaner or a ditch digger for a while and then decide to seek employment as a nurse (which of course requires registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba), you will still have to meet that requirement for academic IELTS. Because you will still be an IEN.
