Manhattanville University ABSN Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

My name is Kaitlyn and I've applied to Manhattanville College's Accelerated BSN program for Spring 2021 admission. I am an alumnus of Mville and super excited that my alma mater has opened a new School of Nursing.

Just wanted to create a thread to connect with anyone else who may be in the process of applying to the program!

Best of luck to you all!

Hey guys! I wrote on here saying I got accepted into the manhattanville BSN program but since I have two degrees already my advisor said I should do the ABSN. Anyone have any information to share? Thanks in advance!

If you already have the pre reqs then accelerated would be your best option.

Anyone get accepted to this years Summer program ?

Is anyone here in the program/know anyone in it that could explain how clinical placement works? Thank you ?

Hi! I recently found out about this program and decided to apply for Fall 21 - it looks great! Since admission is rolling, I am wondering if anyone can share the time between when their application was complete and when they received their decision. I am missing one prerequisite and am cautious about starting it before knowing since the other schools I applied to do not require it (Genetics).

Thanks so much for replying & congrats!! That’s great, I’ve been waiting months at this point for 4 other schools.

Hi! Are you doing the accelerated or traditional program?

Specializes in social worker.

I'm doing the accelerate program. got accepted for the fall cohort

Specializes in Patient care tech.

I am currently in the tradition program. I just completed my 1st semester today. I took anatomy 2  and 3 3lectives. Next semester starting August 30th I start math for nursing, human genetics and 2 electives. So far it's going great. The professors are very helpful. The school is pricey but I'm having a great experience so far and I'm happy to be going inside the school for in person learning.

Hello all, I just hopped on here and saw a lot of questions and figured I'd answer some for ya'll. I am in Cohort 3 for the ABSN Program at Manhattanville.

Classes are currently online via Zoom, they will remain online during Summer 2021 and then be moved back to in person in Fall 2021. The college is requiring all students to be fully vaccinated for Covid in order to attend classes in Fall 2021, so keep that in mind. Lectures are online but Lab and Clinicals are on-campus and off-campus at clinical sites.

First semester you take 4 classes: Fundamentals of Nursing (with clinical), Health and Physical Assessment (with lab), Pharmacology and Pathophysiology I, and Holistic Nursing Theory (asynchronous - online - no meetings, just weekly discussion posts). First semester, I had two days off during the week, as well as weekends off which left plenty of time to keep up with school work and even work PT. Clinicals happen at a long-term care facility once/week. There are exams pretty much every week and the accelerated program is definitely not for sissies so be ready to work-hard, but it is totally doable and worth it!

As far as prerequisite questions go: yes, you must have all of your prereqs already completed before starting the program but you are able to apply before finishing them. If you are looking for an affordable and fast way to complete last minute prereqs I would recommend Phoenix University Online or Portage Learning. Phoenix offers a 5 week Genetics course - super simple and to the point. Portage Learning offers tons of options as well and you can finish at your own pace.

The Accelerated Bachelors program costs $900/credit with 61 credits in total. The do not offer institutional scholarships to ABSN students but you are welcome to apply to outside scholarship opportunities as well as FASFA.

I also saw talk about CCNE-accreditation - That is true. Manhattanville is currently working on becoming CCNE-accredited; however, they are accredited by NYS which is all that we would need to sit for the NCLEX, etc.. CCNE-accreditation is an added bonus that makes it a nationwide accredited program so hopefully that will workout - they are confident - but if not, it does not impact us in any way.

All-in-all it's been such a fun start to this program for me! I have made so many really amazing friends and have learned so so much in such a short period of time. Dr. Hanley for Pharmacology is such an incredible wealth of knowledge and makes the complex topics understandable, Professor Cinguina (who you may not have until second semester) is the best professor you may every have! She is so joyful and supportive and makes the class fun and interactive! You will always look forward to her class.

I think that is everything - Happy to answer any other questions but I hope that this helps! Best of luck to you all ? Be prepared to work hard and you will succeed!
