Hard to give you a clear answer as you have SO MANY options! Off the top of my head, in nyc - NYU, Mt Sinai, Columbia, Beth Israel, Lenox Hill, Bellevue... (prety sure each of these have NICUs). Your best bet - go to their websites and find the number to recruitment. If you're ready to work nights you'll get a job anywhere. Days is also possible though a bit harder to come by.

If you want to go to Brooklyn - Methodist, Lutheran, Maimonides is opening an extened Babies Hospital, Brooklyn Hospital, Downstate, Kings County...

Hey,

I am in SC, possibly moving back to NJ and working in Manhattan. I set up a profile on Columbia-Presbyterian's Career Page (http://www.nyp.org) even though no NICU jobs were posted. I got a call from an interested recruiter a few weeks later, even though I hadn't actually applied for a particular job. MSCH (Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital) at Columbia Pres's campus is supposedly world renowned, and handles everything from transports to ECMO. I'm flying up for an interview in 2 weeks.....WooHoo!!

Ok, as an update, Newark Beth Israel is located in the ghetto and is old, gross and scary. I wouldn't take the job, even though the people were friendly and I could work days. I did interview at MSCHONY at NY Pres., and it was AWESOME. The pay's great, excellent reputation/facilities, union, etc. Even though I will have to work nights and commute a pretty good distance, it's worth it. I'd definitely check it out. Maybe I'll see you there. I start in July...

Thanks for all your info. I justed applied for a NICU position at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The sicker the baby, the more I love 'em. Hope to hear something soon!

All right!!! You know the nurse manager is a guy? What are the chances of that happening? We'll have to have an Allnurses MSCH reunion this summer.

A guy??? wow what are the odds. Have you heard back from them and are you accepting the position if its offered? I'm sure you probably will and you should. I've lived in Manhattan before and it is nothing like the south as far as culture goes. If your looking for an apartment its best not to go through the real estate people unless you just want to dish out extra money for something you could do yourself. Check out the ads in the local papers...I think the http://www.villagevoice.com is one that has some ads where people are sub-leasing or have a place they own and want to rent. Ask around about different areas and definetly don't sign anything unless you check the neighborhood out. Upper east side and some of the upper west side (columbus circle) are great areas . I was offered the job, and accepted conditional upon getting accepted to Columbia's SON NNP program. I should hear either way in the next couple of weeks. I'll be moving back in with the parents until I get a sense of what my finances will allow me to do, with both school and work.
