Mandated Tele training for Med/Surg Nurses

I work at a small rural hospital in Illinois. We have a combined ICU/Tele/Med-Surg Unit. ICU staff take ICU & Tele patients, Med-Surg nurses take M/S & Tele. We are trying to get all M/S nurses ACLS cert'd and get them Tele training so they can read there own strips. There is a lot of resistance and we are having difficulty coming up with cost-effective education strategies to get the nurses Tele trained...ideas?

I worked in WI in a small ICU. We took tele and ICU pts. Any tele pts that left the unit and went to Med-Surg were placed on remote tele and monitored from the ICU. In the ICU there is almost always someone watching the monitors, not sure how that would work on a M/S floor unless you have a tele tech. The tele strips for the pt's on the M/S floor were read by the ICU RN's and reported to the M/S RN. A strip was sent to the floor for the pts chart. We never had more then 10 tele pts on the floor - mainly because that's all the packs we had and all that the equipment could read and display, plus display all the pts that were hardwired to the monitors in the ICU.
