I am a strong proponent of having your own malpractice insurance. My hospital pays off rather than fight things, and the cases I was deposed on we were totally in the right. It is cheaper than trying to have to convince a jury. Which means I don't believe they would defend me as hard as I might need.
I have had a policy with NSO for over 30 years, never needed it but I won't go without it! There are others you can find on the net, other folks on AN have recommended theirs as well.
Try a search on malpractice on AN, there is/are a lot of information and discussions available.
Congrats on the new job!

Hi guys,
I'm a brand new nurse and was hired onto a Labor and Delivery / Mom-Baby unit. I know how important it is to have malpractice insurance especially being on a unit like mine. I was wondering what insurance companies would be best to go through. Thanks!
