Hi,
I'm starting my NP clinicals in September, and I have to carry malpractice insurance. It seems like there are a lot of companies out there, and I'm wondering if anyone has had experience (good or bad) with any of them. Any suggestions on what company to use?
Thanks very much!

Good luck with your NP clinicals, BCgradnurse.
I use http://www.nso.com. Can get a free online quote.
Thanks...one more question....do I get coverage as a student nurse, an RN, or as an NP? Is there separate coverage available for a student NP?
Your coverage will be as an NP student, but you must be licensed as RN. You are automatically covered as RN when you are NP student.
For example, in Mass., for NP student in Family Practice (which includes RN coverage):
Limits of Liability: $1,000,000 / $6,000,000 Total Annual Premium: $275.00
Limits of Liability:
$1,000,000 / $6,000,000
Total Annual Premium: $275.00

My school requires RN Liability Insurance (I use NSO), and the school provides the student NNP rider policy. You may want to check with your advisor before buying a policy, as they can be expensive (esp the student NP policies)

You may want to check into the CM & F Group, Inc. This was a more affordable option for me. :wink2:
