Male Nursing Student Scholarships?

Published

Hey everyone!

I am new here, sorry if I posted to the wrong section.

I am a male who just got accepted into the LPN program at Columbia College in Calgary.

I was wondering if there were any scholarships that would help me pay for my studies being a male nursing student? Columbia is a private institution I should add.

Additionally, if you recommend any other type of scholarships I should apply for, please post them!! Your help is appreciated!

Well, why don't you got to your school's financial aid office and ask about whatever scholarships, and grants they may have! if you are low income, they probably may have some sort of a scholarship or grant. Would you also consider a student loan? If it is your first degree, you should be eligible for the PELL grant, which is a government sponsored grant and does not need to be repaid.

This is what weirds me out, this college doesn't have a student financial aid office. They're a private institution and not funded by the government. Still, I thought they should still have one, but no..

I am getting student loans, but I won't settle for just that. I'd like scholarships to help pay for my education and anything else as well!

Ill definitely look into the PELL grant as I have no degree.

thanks for commenting!

The fact that your school has no financial aid office would be a red flag to me! Make sure this school is accredited and not just like any other money grabbing for-profit institution. At any school if you are low income and a first time college student you should be eligible for PELL.

As far as I'm aware, Pell (it's not an acronym, it's a dead Senator's name) grants are only given to US citizens or resident aliens attending college in the US, so I don't think you'd qualify for that.

According to Columbia's website, your Admission Advisor should be the person helping you figure out how to finance your schooling. Some schools don't have a separate FA office; they handle all of that in their Admissions department.
