I was just recently hired to help start a new home health agency in texas, i am just confused. we both have no prior home health experience so we learn by mistake. we have been operation for almost a year now and now were just told by an independent auditor that lvn's are not allowed to supervise home health aides which is what we currently have them doing. does anyone know where i can get this information from and if it is true?

I would ask the independent auditor where they got that info. When someone tells you something, especially if they are being paid to do so, they should be able to provide the basis for their findings.

If it is a Medicare certified agency then yes, RNs must supervise the homehealth aides. If not, then it may not matter.

Agree. :)
As for skilled/nonskilled, all nursing visits (LPN or RN) are skilled visits.
