I graduated as an LVN in 2010 and worked in Pediatric home health and a busy pediatric primary care clinic in Dallas. For the last 7 years, I have been a school nurse while working on my Associate's degree. Now that I have recently graduated as an RN, I'm finding myself stuck between 10 years of experience as an LVN but no "relevant" experience to get even an interview for an RN job. Some say I have "too much" experience for a Graduate Nurse position, and I disagree, it's like changing specialties sort of speak.
I live in Dallas and most major hospitals have Magnet status, so I had no chance to work in a hospital setting as an LVN, especially staying in pediatrics.
I'm looking for recommendations, tips, advice, a foot on the door...
I'm applying everywhere that I feel I'd be interested in, not anything I know I'd hate. No luck so far.
