Hi Everyone,
I'm Angela and i'm currently taking a nursing acute care technician course. i wanted to move on and become an LVN someday and then proceed to RN. I would really really appreciate it if anyone of you can give me some tips and advice about the LVN application process at Citrus College Glendora.
I'm confused about the prerequisites. Are there any? Do I have to take Health Occupations 100 before applying for the VN? When do they offer this Health Occupation 100 course?
I will be visiting the school maybe next week or later because i have school all day.. so busy

Don't go to Citrus, terrible faculty, non-standard on teaching, and very rude and bias. Go to Whittier Community and check others, need to more do research on instructors, talk to lots of people/students before applying. It will be interested if you can afford, go with private, less hassle and stress, no waiting list. Good luck.

Hey Angela,
My name's Nikki and I'm a second semester VN student at Citrus. Basically, Nursing 100 is offered during spring and fall. You must be in the top 40 of the usually about 300 students enrolled. It's not as crazy as it sounds, though because generally you must just maintain a 93% and above to qualify.
Personally, I love Citrus. Of course it has it's problems/politics, but what school doesn't? It doesn't make any sense to pay $26,000 for private school. From what I hear, the graduates may pass the program, but they have a really low pass rate on the NCLEX. You can check out the various pass rates of all schools at the California LVN website: http://www.bvnpt.ca.gov/Education/VN_Stats.asp
I think it also pays to be in a merit-based program- the students are more dedicated and keep the academic bar high.
If you do enroll I recommend Lynda Grauso for Nursing 100. She's tough but fair, and will always make sure you are well prepared for the exams. I am sure that my continued success in the program is due to the solid foundation she laid for me in 100.
Anyway, good luck on your journey... let me know if you have any other questions.

I like the school itself because it is small, and if you have children, the childcare is really inexpensive. The class is pretty easy, they show you a lot of things on powerpoint presentations, and you can print the actual powerpoints they use, then take notes on that. The class is intense, and you really shouldnt take any other class along with it, cause its contant studying. Its just a lot of info to take in and remember. You have a test EVERY class day.
ANyhoo hope I helped a little, and Good Luck! :)
