LVN Student help! - NCLEX tips pleassse

Published

I am a complete BEGINNER when it comes to nclex style questions and barely passed med surg and 2nd level in LVN program. I realized my school is a "self taught" program and you have to figure out how to study on your own. i did get a tutor but she helped me mostly on content which i do need but TEST STRATEGIES seems to be the above all high to pass these type of questions.

My mom is a RN and is helping me and amazingly my mom was answering my med surg nclex questions and breaking the questions down WITHOUT even reading the chapter? lol how did she do that? well from her 10 years experience of course, but she was breaking it down and showing me process elimination....while my mom was showing me , she had me ask myself 'whats the outcome?" it seem like most of the questions i asked that first then process of elimination and i was able to get the question right....for those who has used Kaplan did it help?

i realized that Kaplan has a test taking strategy with asking yourself "whats the outcome"

any care plan books that's heavy with RATIONALES, OUTCOMES AND "RISK FOR"?

I used Kaplan for my LVN and followed the generic study plan and I worked amazingly for me. I passed my NCLEX the first tim with 88 questions (not that means anything really). I felt really confident going into my NCLEX, not so much coming out, which is a really "normal" feeling. I highly recommend sticking with kaplan. I also used Saunders, just to have more NCLEX style questions at my disposal.

I am currently studying for my NCLEX- RN, and am using the same.

good luck to you!!

awesome! thank you nurse-in-the-making2. You have helped me out :)

Also wish you the best on your NCLEX RN :)
